Who Are We?
Me and Colibrí Lab
I am José Fonseca , a South American graphic designer with over 35 years of experience, and since 1996 I have been exploring the digital world. I work from Quilpué, a small town in Chile, where, with a computer and an internet connection, I transform my ideas into vibrant and memorable illustrations. I am inspired by the magic of Mexican alebrijes , the movement and subtlety of impressionism , the freedom of spontaneous strokes , the beauty of field illustration , and the structural detail of architectural sketches . Each work I create is an homage to the color, texture, and stories that emerge from the everyday.
With that passion I founded two projects: Colibrí Estudio ( https://www.colibriestudio.cl ), focused exclusively on Fine Art printed illustrations, and Colibrí Lab ( https://colibrilab.cl ), a creative laboratory that turns everyday products into pieces with a life of their own.

At Colibrí Lab , we combine the curiosity of an explorer with the vision of an artist. We transform common products—such as t-shirts, sweatshirts, pillows, water bottles, or backpacks—into pieces that tell stories through unique illustrations. Each collection we create reflects a delicate balance between the cultural richness of South America, the chromatic intensity of the alebrijes, and the visual harmony of impressionism.

What Do We Do?
At Colibrí Lab , we take everyday objects and “infect” them with life through pre-defined illustrations. The result? T-shirts that tell a story, mugs that evoke distant landscapes, notebooks with impressionist brushstrokes and even yoga mats with designs inspired by Chilean fauna.
